Study in Australia? Or maybe not. This is what Gautam Gupta, founder of the Federation of Indian Students in Australia, has to say about Australian education for Indians: “They are basically importing cheap labour, for cooking, cleaning and driving cabs, in the guise of education. Of course, not all education opportunities in Australia can be colored in the same brush the above statement suggests, but Australia definitely does not have the best track record in post education recruitment. And certainly does not deserve to attract 96,000 Indian students a year - the same as US schools admit. The universities are nowhere close to their American counterparts in any regard, employment is scarce and immigration is difficult. No wonder some schools need to pay up to 45% of their tuition fees as commision to agents for recruiting students. So beware fellow students, be very aware. I will not my younger brother to study in an average Australian school, I would prefer him to go to an American school instead. And neither should you.
